Sonder Stays NYC: Battery Park, The Dutch & The Industrialist Reviewed

Admittedly, I first heard about Sonder through a YouTuber I occasionally watch, Kelly Stamps. She mentioned it semi-briefly in a video and the concept caught my attention. I don’t know if this is a fact, but I feel like I vaguely remember her saying the people behind AirBnB own it. I will not be doing any internet sleuthing to confirm or refute that, but I know one thing – Sonder is great!

It has the homey-ness of an AirBnb, without the weird stuff and its standardized like a hotel. I have stayed at 3 out of the 12 Sonder’s in NYC. In FiDi (Manhattan) I stayed at the Battery Park location, in LIC (Queens) I stayed at The Dutch, and in Gowanus (Brooklyn) I stayed at The Industrialist. Honestly, I kind of what to try all of them at one point. I love a good stay-cation.

Me at Sonder NYC Location: The Dutch (Long Island City)

I loved this location and the light it got. Honestly, all of the Sonder Stays I’ve holed up in have great daytime light which is a huge must for me.

This space had little nice-to-haves that I fully took advantage of. For example, the full-size fridge with a kitchenette to match. Anytime I had leftovers, I didn’t worry about finishing up or how to dispose of it. I just threw them in the fridge with the intention of heating up on the stove or microwave.

This location reminded me a bit of the hotel I stayed at in Seoul, South Korea – Novotel. I remember my time at this Sonder and that hotel fondly.

Sonder NYC Location: The Industrialist is what New York realtors would call “cozy.” IYKYK.

If a New York City realtor ever tells you a room “first a queen-sized bed” they literally mean it fits a queen-sized bed and NUTHIN’ else. Trifling.
