Milwaukee Eats That Changed My Brain Chemistry

Two things you probably know about me:

I’m a Midwest GWORL.

I like to eat.

People like to talk down on the Midwest and call us “flyover” country, but that’s simply an ignorant take. North and South Dakota? Sure. Indiana? Fair. Ohio? Point taken. However, there is so much to see and do for Minnesota, Illinois (mainly Chicago tbh), Wisconsin (certain parts), and presumably Michigan! (For example, seeing the sand dunes and Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore in MI is on my bucket list!)

I used to live in Milwaukee and similar to the Twin Cities there is so much food there to consume! Every year I go back there to visit my friend. I come prepared with a list of places I want to eat. Sadly, I don’t have pictures for every place I love, but here are some restaurants in Milwaukee you should check out.

One time, I ran into NBA player Jimmy Butler at Mad Rooster. He opened the door for me and everything. I had no clue. I just knew a tall man opened the door for me and everyone was staring at him. Once he drove away in a white Jeep I asked someone who everyone was gawking at and that’s when I found out it was him.

Don’t get me wrong, eating on the beach is always a vibe, but I got the dumbest tan line because of this choice. I was wearing shorts, so mid thigh my legs got darker 😂

Black-owned, vegan, and delicious. Can’t wait to go back. I had jackfruit for the first time there. Embarrassingly, my only other point of reference for jackfruit is from when Lizzo prepared some on her TikTok. It was a really good substitute for pulled pork.
