Cartagena, Columbia: What I Did My 1st Time In South America

I took an L on this trip to Cartagena, Colombia. I got up before the sun did and still didn’t make it to my flight. See what had happened was… I didn’t have my documents in order. There was some piece of paper that I needed to be printed but wasn’t, so I was turned away and not allowed to board my flight. The next morning, I had to wake up at a** crack in the morning again to make the once-a-day flight.

A friend of mine had been living in Colombia for about a year. It had been so long since I have seen them so we decided to meet up in Cartagena. (They were living in Medellin.)

This was my first time in South America. There was so much to take in. Luckily, my friend who was already living in Colombia had lots of ideas so they came loads of ideas which I appreciated.

What I did in Cartagena (and other parts of Colombia):

Trecked a steep patch down to a beach somewhere in San Onofre

Got a Full body clay skin treatment at El Totumo

Shopped and dined at the insanely beautiful food court (yes – seriously!) at Centro Comercial La Serrezuela (shopping mall.) One of the restaurants we patroned was called Burladero.

Walked around inside the Old City, an 18th Century walled city, where our accommodation was located

Listened to the waves from the Caribbean Sea on top of Las Bóvedas

Enjoyed the bustling streets of Plaza de San Diego
