It wasn’t until I went to LA sans visiting Disneyland that I started to be less enchanted. When I express this, people agree with me and proceed to add that Los Angeles is so “fake”, “plastic”, “superficial”, etc. These reasons have nothing to do with why I don’t see myself settling down in LA. In fact, these reasons are common misconceptions. I have friends who are born and bred LA. They’re pretty great and are as real as anyone else.
The real reason I have previously claimed to dislike Los Angeles is because of two things: traffic and size. LA is notorious for traffic. I already live somewhere with a decent amount of traffic and I absolutely hate it. Considering how large Los Angeles is, traffic there is just exponentially worse.
There is one thing I find redeemable about LA, the beaches food. Okay, there are many things, but this post is about food. Plus, I refuse to participate in hometown slander, unlike some people.
Leo’s ($)
Near Miracle Mile
Each taco is less than $2, but I would pay so much more than that for them. This seemed to be an “if you know, you know” type of place. If you’re not vegan (or vegetarian) I would recommend the Al Pastor (pork off the spit), it comes with a delicious thin slice of pineapple. *chef’s kiss*
Sweet Chick ($$)
West Hollywood
Apparently this place is owned by the rapper Nas. Maybe that has something to do with the fact I ran into one-half of Rae Sremmurd. No –– not Swae Lee. And no, I didn’t ask for a picture. Would anyone really care unless it was Swae Lee?
I’ve held the philosophy that I don’t need breakfast food with my chicken, but for Sweet Chick, I’ll make an exception. I got the Waffle Chicken Sandwich and I have no regrets.
Tocaya ($$)
Venice
Clearly, I forgot to take a picture before digging in. Tocaya is a Modern Mexican restaurant with organic choices for everyone. I don’t have more to say other than I think about this burrito a lot.
