My Minneapolis Luk – What I wore to IAMMpls

Rachel (@raelind_ on IG) and I photographed by Darin from CityPages

This past Thursday, I had the opportunity to attend the annual I AM MPLS event in NE Minneapolis. Shout-out Vanessa McDuffie (@nessa_bess on IG) for hooking me up with a free ticket. I haven’t been to an event like this in while. It was nice to see the Twin Cities creative community dressed to the nines. I came to this event alone, but I am never worried about feeling out of place. Minneapolis is a city where its easy to find like minded people. I always meet really cool and nice people at events like these.

I tried to come up with my outfit days before the actual event, but I’m a chronic procrastinator and couldn’t find the motivation to make my outfit until minutes before I had to leave. Last minute outfits are always a hit or miss for me, but this one turned out alright! I knew I wanted to play with layers and textures, so I had a general idea of what I was looking for. First, put on this mesh maxi dress I got from Kohl’s, one of my favorite shopping spots. Then I topped it with a long skirt which actually has suspender straps (I just tucked them in) and a faux fur vest which I wear way too often. I also wore fishnet tights to make sure the exposed part of my legs stayed semi-warm.
